EXCLUSIVE - Interview with Gabriel Harper, The Creator of PHP Link Bid
Tagged Under : exclusive, interview, phplinkbid
I’m proud to present an exclusive interview with Gabriel Harper, the man behind PHP Link Bid - the script that run most of today’s bidding web directory.
Here’s the interview, unedited:
1. What inspire you to introduce bidding system with the launch of PHP Link Bid?
Along with many other Webmasters, I saw link bidding and liked the concept. At the time there were no PHP link bid scripts available, but I had a project in the works which was a perfect fit for the bid model. DollarLinking.com truly inspired the first release of phpLinkBid, and since then we have grown in many ways.
2. According to your database, how many PHPLB powered bidding directories on the Net today?
Several thousand licensed phpLinkBid sites running now. Illegal copies of an older version have become quite popular and we’re now forced to aggressively pursue these site owners.
3. Can I have a hint on what you are working on right now to be released in the future to improve PHP Link Bid?
A lot! In addition to improving our new Link Effects add-on there are some great improvements on content management and additional payment processor support upcoming. We have many small additions that will improve the entire script, and a few nice suprises that will have to remain a secret for a little while longer.
4. With so many bidding directories are ‘owned’ by Casino and gambling-related sites, does building a ‘clean’ bidding directory has any advantages?
Absolutely. Many users are concerned about the effects of gambling links on the quality of a directory. It requires some extra effort from a directory owner to review each link and set quality guidelines but the site will appeal to a much wider audience.
5. Please share a tip or two on how to build a better bidding directory and how to serve advertisers better.
Customize your site and stand out. Build your name. Promote consistently and spread out your efforts. State your value clearly to your visitors. The phpLinkBid Forums are also a great place to find tips and talk to other phpLinkBid users about what’s working for them.
Thanks, Gabe, for the interview!
